Light Interaction Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) Group

LIDAR system consists of a short pulse and high power laser, a large area telescope to collect the back scattered signal, narrowband filters, photon counters or photomultiplier tubes, data acquisition and processing unit. LIDAR can be used for monitoring the atmospheric composition and pollution, clouds, aerosols, atmospheric dynamics, wind velocity, and temperature profiles etc.
